I am currently unable to complete the same because I am not familiar with the basics of monomials, syntehtic division and complex fractions. Would it be possible for anyone to help me with this?

There are many tools for finding the sum or difference of a number which are much better than tutoring. Try Algebrator, and you will never need a tutor.
